Remi came into our rescue program on December 20, 2008. Remi is a beautiful 23 year old, Bay, Thoroughbred Gelding. Remi has experienced a lot in his life. He is known as Remington's Gold and was one of the first horses to race at Remington Park. Remi still bares the scars of the needle injections given in his legs when he raced all those years ago, as regulations weren't as strict then. Unfortunately, those scars are now forgotten as the scars he bears now are much deeper. Remi was attacked and almost killed by a Stud and a Mule that he lived with. They got him on the ground and beat one side of his rib cage in and almost ripped one of his rear hooves off. This accident was nearly 2 years ago, but the wounds are still present. Remi was well loved, but the up keep has become to much for the former owners. Remi currently weighs in at 942 pounds. According to his height, he should be around 1200 pounds. I know that we can get the required weight back on this sweet boy and get his feet corrected. I believe that this sweet boy would make someone an excellent kids horse once he has rehabilitated. He has such soft eyes and he seems to share his life with you once you look into them. I want to see this wonderful horse go to a retirement home, where he will receive all the love, care and attention he so greatly deserves. Remi will receive a full physical examination by our Veterinarian on Tuesday. Once he has gained the required weight and has gone through a series of trimmings to get his feet back in line, Remi will be available for adoption. Please consider making a donation towards Remi's Rehabilitation. We will update as he progresses.
