Angus came into our rescue program on April 30, 2021. Angus came into our rescue program from the City of Norman Animal Welfare along with 18 other horses, 12 Camels, 58 Goats, 12 Jacob Sheep, 3 Llamas, 3 Alpacas, 13 Cows and 2 Oryk as a cruelty case. This was a wide scale animal cruelty case with over 30 different types of species seized, totaling over 350 animals. Argo is a Beautiful, Black, Percheron, Stud. Angus is estimated to be 20 years of age. Angus is super sweet and loves attention. Angus is good body condition, with a body condition score 5. Angus is severely ataxic and does not track behind. Circumduction of outside hindlimb circles. Grade 2 ataxia front, Grade 3 ataxia hind. An EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalities) titer was submitted which came back Positive. He is currently on medication for EPM. Angus's blood work showed abnormal results, such as elevated total protein which can be attributed to dehydration and/or elevated globulins. Globulins were elevated which can indicate infection. Fecal county showed a high number of strongyle eggs present. His feet were in extremely poor condition. We have Angus on a specialized diet and along with his daily medication for EPM, which is not cheap and runs us about $950 a month. He will need a few months of treatment and we pray he recovers, so that he can be gelded. Angus has a long road of recovery ahead of him. We will update as he improves. Please consider making a donation towards Angus's Rehabilitation.
