Clarkson came into our rescue program on July 14, 2020. Clarkson came into our rescue program from the City of Edmond Animal Welfare along with 23 other horses as a cruelty case. This case has been a long drawn out ordeal and we are thankful that we can now prepare these horses for adoption. Many of these horses had a lot of medical issues that we have been treating and taking care of. Reportedly, most of the horses in this case are all Western Pleasure bred. We DO NOT have registration papers on any of these horses. Clarkson is a Beautiful, Sorrel, Quarter Horse, Gelding. Clarkson is estimated to be 6 years of age upon arrival into our program. Clarkson is super sweet and loves attention. Clarkson is in fair condition, with a body condition score 4. Clarkson's left eye has severe corneal edema and peripheral corneal vascularization, mild bupthalmos, possible ocular injury or inflammation. Medications were dispensed for treatment to be done 3 times daily. Clarkson's blood work showed his total protein was elevated, this can indicate dehydration or infection. Glucose was low, this is likely due to poor nutrition. Albumin was mildly elevated, this can be due to dehydration. A fecal egg count was done and strongyles were present at 575 EPG (high shedder). Fasciola eggs were also present. We will update as he improves. Please consider making a donation towards Clarkson's Rehabilitation.
