Hank came into our rescue program on August 7, 2011. Hank came from the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division along with one other horse. Hank is a Beautiful, Sorrel, Thoroughbred, Gelding. Hank is estimated to be 5 years of age. He is a super sweet boy and loves attention. Hank is underweight and has a huge wound on his withers. Hank has shoes on four feet and it looks as though someone continued to ride this horse, despite the infected withers. Our Veterinarian drained nearly 4 liters of puss out of this poor boy. The infection is looking better and the wound isn't draining nearly as much. It still amazes me what people will push these horses to do, despite their body condition and/or open wounds. Hank is currently on lots of antibiotics and continued therapy to help his wounds heal. Hank has a long road of recovery ahead of him. We will update as he progresses. Please consider making a donation towards Hank's rehabilitation.
Update February 2012 Hank is now seeking his forever, loving home. Hank's withers are healing nicely. No more drainage, just a scab that is healing and hair growth is forming. He looks great and full of spunk and energy. He truly enjoys life and loves to play. Hank is broke to ride, would recommend an experienced rider, as he has a lot of spunk and energy. He is extremely sweet and loves attention. Hank loads in a trailer and stands for the farrier. Hank has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Hank.
Update July 2012 Hank is now seeking his forever, loving home. Hank was returned to our rescue due to unforeseen family/financial problems. They hated to give Hank up, but did what they felt was right for Hank and their family. Hank was currently in training with Robert Hayes when he returned. Hank received 30 days in training. He rode the trails beautifully and has such a great/calm disposition. He does tend to get a little buddy sour. He bonds very easily and quickly to his pasture buddies. He is not a dominant horse at all. Hank stands at 15.2 hands tall. He loves attention and is super sweet. He will make someone an excellent horse. Hank has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Hank.
Hank has been adopted to a wonderful family in Shady Shores, Texas. Hank is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in his forever, loving home. Hank is being joined by Walter, where both will receive the time, attention and love they both deserve. We are thrilled that these two sweethearts have found the forever, loving family that they deserve.
