Honey came into our rescue program on July 14, 2020. Honey came into our rescue program from the City of Edmond Animal Welfare along with 23 other horses as a cruelty case. This case has been a long drawn out ordeal and we are thankful that we can now prepare these horses for adoption. Many of these horses had a lot of medical issues that we have been treating and taking care of. Reportedly, most of the horses in this case are all Western Pleasure bred. We DO NOT have registration papers on any of these horses. Honey is a Beautiful, Sorrel, Quarter Horse, Mare. Honey is estimated to be 12 years of age. Honey is a super sweet girl and loves attention. Honey has a foal on her side estimated to be around 10 weeks of age. Honey is in fair condition, with a body condition score of a 4. Honey's bloodwork showed she was anemic, which can be due to external or internal parasites, poor nutrition, blood loss, or other chronic health issues. Her total protein was high which can be due to dehydration or infection. Glucose was low likely due to poor nutrition and high calorie demand (lactation). Honey is being a great mom and settling in well with a good diet to properly accommodate momma and baby. We will update as she improves. Please consider making a donation towards Honey's Rehabilitation.
