Mara came into our rescue program on August 6, 2022. Mara came into our rescue program from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe along with 3 other horses as a cruelty case. Mara is a Beautiful, Black, Quarter Horse, Mare. Mara is estimated to be 10 years of age upon arrival into our program. Mara is in very poor condition, with a body score of a 1. Mara is covered in rain rott. Mara is also anemic, which is likely from poor nutrition and parasites. Mara is super sweet and loves attention once she is caught. She tends to be unsure and a bit aloof at first. She stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. This sweet girl has a long road of recovery ahead of her. We will update as she progresses. Please consider making a donation towards Mara's Rehabilitation.
Update February 2023 Mara has made an amazing transformation. She has gained her weight back and is absolutely stunning. Please ignore the mud, we finally received some much needed rain. Mara is a bit unsure of people and tends to be more on the aloof side. Once caught, she is accepting of attention but is a bit scared of your intentions. Mara stands at 14 hands tall. She will make someone an amazing horse, with the right amount of time, patience and training. Mara is halter broke and broke to lead. She loads in a trailer but does need a bit more work standing for the farrier. If you are interested in giving this beautiful girl the forever, loving home she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/text/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Mara.
