Nora came into our rescue program on February 22, 2016. Nora came into our rescue program from an Oklahoma Feed lot. Nora was hours away from being shipped to slaughter, when a supporter reached out to us and asked us to help save Nora and her unborn foal. We don't typically go to feed lots, as our primary focus is animal cruelty cases, but we couldn't turn our backs on Nora either. Nora is a Beautiful, Dun, Quarter Horse, Mare. Nora is estimated to be 18 years of age. Nora is pregnant and expected to foal within the next month or two. Nora is a little thin, infested with external/internal parasites and extremely sick with an respiratory virus. Nora seems pretty worn out and beat up. She has an old injury to her hind leg, but it doesn't appear to bother her any. She is a super sweet girl and seems to be loving attention as she continues to settle in. Nora is Halter Broke and Broke to lead. She loads in a trailer and stands for the farrier. We will update soon with Nora's adoption status. Please consider making a donation towards Nora's Rehabilitation!
Update July 2016 Nora foaled a beautiful baby boy on April 25, 2016, which we named Bodacious. He is full of personality and from the minute he arrived in this world, he loved people. His personality and flare for life, is bigger than he is. Nora and Bodacious have been doing great. Sadly, earlier this month, Nora coliced! She coliced fast and was in extreme pain. We tried everything but sadly found that she had already twisted and ruptured, resulting in her bleeding internally. We had to let Nora go. It broke our heart. Nora was such a good girl and momma. We were completely saddened that we only had a short time with her. Nora had been through so much in life, ultimately ending up at a kill lot, which she totally didn't deserve to be there. She seemed to know when she was here that she was safe and loved. She was always very easy to approach and she seemed to really love the attention. Bodacious was heart broken and it broke our heart that he lost his momma so quickly in life. Both had just found their forever, loving family prior to Nora colicing. We didn't know what the future held for Bodacious, but thankfully, Bodacious was accepted by Zelda and both was adopted together into a wonderful forever, loving home. Everything happens for a reason, sometimes we don't know why, but at the end of the day, everything worked out and Bodacious continued with his larger than life personality with a family that truly enjoys everything about him.
Bodacious has been adopted to a wonderful family in Piedmont, Oklahoma. Bodacious along with Zelda will be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in their forever, loving home. We are so thrilled that this super sweet little boy found the forever, loving family he deserves where he will receive the time and attention he longs for.
