Shada came into our rescue program on January 14, 2015. Shada came from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office along with 11 other horses as an abandonment case. Sadly, help came too late for 2 other horses. We lost a 6 month old foal 3 days after she arrived and we found 1 dead on the property. Shada is a Beautiful, Buckskin, Quarter Horse, Mare. Shada is estimated to be 8 years of age. Shada is body score of a 1. She is infested with internal/external parasites, has rain rot and is mildly anemic. Shada is covered in ticks and possibly pregnant. Shada is a sweet girl, but very scared. Shada, along with the 11 other horses, haven't experienced much hands on attention. Most are not halter broke or broke to lead, but learning. It is going to take some time and patience and this beautiful herd will learn to accept love and attention. It is clear that no human has been there for them in the past, and they don't understand that we are here to help. We will update as Shada improves. Please consider making a donation towards Shada's Rehabilitation.
Update October 2015 Shada is now seeking her forever, loving home to call her own. Shada has a lot of potential and needs a family that is willing to spend a lot of time with her and give her a lot of attention. Shada was turned out on pasture and spent most of her life with nearly little to no contact with humans. She was not halter broke when she arrived in our program in January. She is very aloof and unsure of humans. With some consistency, time, attention and training, she will make someone an excellent horse. She is a beautiful girl! Shada has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this sweet girl the forever, loving home she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Shada.
Update March 2017 Shada has been returned to our rescue program at no fault of her own and she is now seeking a forever, loving home. Shada is now 10 years old and is ready for training! She needs a family that will invest in her future and start her on the journey of being trained under saddle. Shada is a beautiful girl with a lot to offer. She still gets worried about being caught/haltered, with time and consistency she will get better. This special girl just needs some time, consistency and positive training. She will make someone an excellent horse. Shada stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. Shada has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this sweet girl the forever, loving home she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Shada.
Shada has been adopted to a wonderful family in Union City, Oklahoma. Shada is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in her forever, loving home. We are thrilled that this sweet girl found the forever, loving family she deserves where she will receive the time and attention she needs.
