Shakira came into our rescue program on August 27, 2016. Shakira came into our rescue program from the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division along with 2 other horses. Shakira is a Beautiful, Black/White, Paint, Mare. Shakira is estimated to be 2 years of age. Shakira is thin but gaining weight. Shakira is a shy horse and afraid of people. She is settling in and learning to adjust and trust but it is a slow process. Shakira is halter broke and broke to lead. She needs a lot of hands on attention and a humane level of training. She is a super sweet girl and has a lot of potential in the right hands. Shakira has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and hoof maintenance. Shakira was picked for our 7th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. She was chosen by Trainer Christine Barcellus. Christine will be working with Shakira for the next 120 days, turning Shakira into a dependable riding companion. Christine will be going against 13 Trainers in our Trainer's Challenge. Competition is set for May 5th, 2018 at the Heart of Oklahoma, Shawnee Expo Center, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. Shakira will be available for adoption throughout the competition on May 5th, 2018 through an all day silent auction. Shakira is a sweet girl and loves attention. Shakira has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof maintenance. Shakira has also been freeze branded for her protection. If you are interested in adopting Shakira, please submit an adoption application and get your pre-approved status, in order to adopt Shakira or one of our other Rescued Horses competing on May 5th, 2018.

Update April 2018 Team Shakira is coming along wonderfully. This is a great horse and certainly one you don't want to miss out on. Come see Christine & Shakira at our Spring Fling benefit trail ride on April 14th at Bell Cow Lake. Don't forget to submit your application to come out and adopt this sweet girl on May 5th, 2018 at Heart of Oklahoma Exp Center, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Shakira was picked for our 9th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge Showcase. She was chosen by Youth Trainer Selah Ocker. Selah will be working with Shakira for the next 90 days, turning Shakira into a dependable riding companion. Selah will not be competing this year. We are thrilled that she joined our Trainer's Challenge to help a horse and showcase her for adoption at the event. Competition is set for May 16, 2020 at Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue's Facility at 21701 East Britton Road, Harrah, Oklahoma. Shakira has been adopted to a wonderful family in Blair, Oklahoma. Shakira is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in her forever, loving home. We are thrilled that this beautiful girl found the forever, loving family she deserves, where she will be showered with the time, attention and love she deserves.

We are generally available BY APPOINTMENT Monday - Thursday after 5:30 and generally anytime Friday - Sunday BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We do maintain full time jobs, so we are not always available on weekdays. Please be patient with us and we will return your call/email as soon as possible.
