Sprite came into our rescue program on February 13, 2012. Sprite came from Logan County Sheriff's Office along with 15 other horses as an animal cruelty case. 16 Horses were seized from a property holding nearly 105 horses. The 16 seized were in critical condition all a body score of a 1. The remaining horses are now being cared for by the owner in a court order and are closely being monitored. Sprite is a Beautiful, Dun, Quarter Horse, Mare. She is a body score of a 1, infested with internal parasites, needs dental work and feet trimmed. It doesn't appear that she has received the basic medical care in quite some time. Sprite is estimated to be 4 years of age. Sprite is super sweet and loves attention. Update September 2012 Sprite is now seeking her forever, loving home. Sprite has gained a lot of weight and continues to gain her weight back daily. She has been in foster care for several months and the foster family worked with Sprite and the other horses with their socialization, etc., She is now ready for her forever, loving family to call her own. Sprite is super sweet and loves attention. Sprite is small, stands about 14 hands tall. Sprite is halter broke and broke to lead. She will make someone an excellent horse with the right amount of time and training. Sprite has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof maintenance. Sprite was picked for our 2nd Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. She was chosen by Trainer Dakota Cross. Dakota will be working with Sprite for the next 100 days, turning Sprite into a dependable riding companion. Dakota will not be competing against the other trainers, but she will be a highlighted featured trainer. Competition is set for May 4th, 2013 at the Lazy E Arena, Guthrie, Oklahoma. Update July 2015 Sprite has returned to our rescue program at no fault of her own. She is now seeking a forever, loving family of her own. Sprite is now 8 years of age. Sprite is super sweet. Sprite will be going through a training camp with Saddle Up Horsemanship. Kelci Goad will have 6 student trainers that will be working with select horses in our adoption program that are green broke. Sprite will receive about 2 weeks of training, which will benefit her greatly and prepare her for her forever, loving family. Everyone is invited to attend the last day of training camp and see the progress each horse and student have made on August 8th. Sprite and the other horses will be available for adoption on this day. Update March 2016 Sprite went through the training camp last year with Saddle Up Horsemanship and she did great. Sprite is a super sweet girl, but would benefit greatly with a little bit of additional training before being adopted. We are excited to announce that one of our Trainer's Challenge Trainer's Christa Caho, will be putting some additional time on Sprite and will be showcasing her at our 5th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer's Challenge. Sprite will have nearly 60 days on her by May 21st, 2016. Come see Christa and Sprite at the Lazy E Arena. We know Sprite will be ready for a wonderful home and family of her own in May.
Update June 2016 Sprite is still available for adoption. She did receive some additional training from Christa Caho. Sprite is doing well, but she is still a bit green. Christa Caho has offered 2 weeks of free training to the adopter of Sprite If you are looking to adopt this sweet girl, this is a great opportunity to take Sprite for some additional training and get the training yourself, to know how to work Sprite. Update 2020 Sprite has not been worked with since her last training session in 2016. Sprite is a small horse and has a lot of quick movements. We would certainly recommend anyone interested in Sprite take her back to the basics and retrain. Sprite is now 12 years of age. She is a sweet heart and would make someone a great companion horse but is not currently ready to be ridden. If you are looking for a horse to work with, and you are patient and more interested in building a respectful relationship, then she is your girl.
