Tobias came into our rescue program on November 18, 2015. Tobias came as an owner surrender. Tobias is a beautiful, Bay, Quarter Horse, gelding. Tobias is estimated to be 2 years of age. Tobias is a sweet boy that was injured in a fence, not once, but twice. He has a significant injury on is hind leg that requires profusions to the joint, as it is infected. We believe that we got to his injury just in time and will be able to save him from having any long term affects from the injury. Tobias is a bit thin and in the process of gaining weight. He is super sweet and loves attention. Tobias stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. We will update as he progresses. Please consider donating towards Tobias' Rehabilitation.
Tobias was picked for our 6th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. He was chosen by Adult Trainer Linda Roadcap. Linda will be working with Tobias for the next 132 days, turning Tobias into a dependable riding companion. Linda will be going against 10 Adult Trainers in our Trainer's Challenge. We also have 5 Youth Trainers competing in our Trainer's Challenge. Competition is set for May 20, 2017 at the Heart of Oklahoma, Shawnee Expo Center, Shawnee, Oklahoma. For additional information regarding our Trainer's Challenge, please visit our trainer's challenge website and follow your favorite Trainer/Rescue Horse on their journey to competition. Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. Tobias will be available for adoption throughout the competition on May 20, 2017 through an all day silent auction. Tobias is a sweet boy and loves attention. Tobias has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof maintenance. Tobias has also been freeze branded for his protection. If you are interested in adopting Tobias, please submit an adoption application and get your pre-approved status, in order to adopt Tobias or one of our other Rescued Horses competing on May 20, 2017.
Update May 2017 Tobias has attended a few clinics such as Robert Hayes Desensitizing Clinic, Buck Brannaman H1, Bill Richey National Mounted Patrol Clinic, Musical Freestyle by Karen Robinson, and Working Equitation by Tarrin Warren. Tobias is very smart and sweet. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He loves to graze and play with the other horses. He is a thinker and needs time to process. Tobias requires someone who will take the time it takes to build his trust and respect his timeline. Saddling is a good example, if you need to ride by a particular time you better plan ahead to get him in the mood and tighten cinch hole by hole. He will check his cinch! Groundwork is recommended while he recovers his confidence. He enjoys a leisurely relationship. A direct line thinker with goals in mind will struggle. He is going really nice in a bosal. We have been working on 1 handed riding. He has a great stop and travels well under himself. He knows his leads, nice simple changes and started on flys. He enjoys trail riding! He is really cool but takes a lot of time. He would be great for a persons only horse. He rides well alone and at night. He is still young and still has a lot to go to be a awesome finished horse. He just needs a patient hand that is willing to put in the time. He is a super sweet boy and loves attention. He has a lot to offer and will make someone an excellent horse.
Update May 23, 2017 Tobias and Linda are this year's 7th Place winners of the Adult division of our 6th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer's Challenge.
