Boone came into our rescue program on December 19, 2009. Boone is a Beautiful Thoroughbred Gelding. He is 6 years old and was a former race horse. Boone did not have a good racing career, apparently this sweet boys heart just wasn't in to racing. Boone is a sweetheart, loves attention and very laid back. Boone has a lot of weight to gain as he was in poor condition upon arrival. He is still a bit on the weak side but gaining weight and building the much needed muscle. Boone has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. Boone will be available for adoption once he has fully rehabilitated. We will update with his adoption status soon. Please consider making a donation towards Boone's recovery.
Update 8/20/10 Boone has battled several different lameness episodes since his arrival. We have struggled with this special boy to get things under control and get him comfortable. We determined that Boone has a fractured/dislocated hip. He has finally been comfortable for the last 2 months and no more lameness issues. He is a constant struggle to keep a healthy body weight on him, specially in his hips. Boone is a sweetheart and loves attention. We are not sure that he will ever be able to handle a rider, so we feel that it is in the best interest of Boone, that he is adopted as a COMPANION animal only. If you are looking for a sweet, loving horse to spend time with. Then he is the one. Boone has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a forever, loving home, please submit an adoption application, or call/email to schedule an appointment to come see Boone.
Update 03/01/2011 Boone has really come a long ways. He looks wonderful, a nice healthy body weight, which he has been maintaining and no lameness issues for several months. He is now turned out in the big pasture with other horses and doing great. He is enjoying life again, running, bucking and playing with the other horses. I feel that he may be able to handle light riding. The biggest thing with Boone is time and patience not to push him too fast or too hard. I think that with a little time he will build up more and more where he may be able to handle more. In the meantime, I think that he could be introduced to light riding. If you are in interested in giving this sweet boy a forever, loving home, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come see Boone.
Boone has been adopted to a wonderful family in Norman, Oklahoma. Boone is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in his forever, loving home. Boone is joining one of our former rescued babies in his home. We are thrilled that this extremely sweet, very special boy found his family where he will receive the love and attention that he deserves.
