Apple came into our rescue program on February 13, 2012. Apple came from Logan County Sheriff's Office along with 15 other horses as an animal cruelty case. 16 Horses were seized from a property holding nearly 105 horses. The 16 seized were in critical condition all a body score of a 1. The remaining horses are now being cared for by the owner in a court order and are closely being monitored. Apple is a Beautiful, Blue Roan, Appaloosa, Mare. She is a body score of a 1, infested with internal parasites, needs dental work and feet trimmed. It doesn't appear that she has received the basic medical care in quite some time. Apple is estimated to be 7 years of age. Apple is a bit aloof but has a lot of potential. She is quick to react, but learning that is no longer needed, as she is being spoiled and loved on daily. We will update as she progresses. Please consider making a donation towards Apple's rehabilitation.
Update June 2012 Apple is now seeking her forever, loving home. Apple has gained a lot of weight and continues to gain her weight back daily. She has been in foster care for several months and the foster family worked with Apple and the other horses with their socialization, etc., She is now ready for her forever, loving family to call her own. Apple is super sweet, but will require some work. She is leary of being caught, but with a little patience and time, she responds nicely. Apple is halter broke and broke to lead. We don't believe her to be broke to ride, as it appears she has primarily been a brood mare. Apple is very smart and with the right amount of time and attention, she would make someone an excellent horse. She is small, estimated to be about 14 hands tall. Apple has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating, and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this sweet girl the forever, loving home that she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come see Apple.
Apple has been adopted to a wonderful family in Vinita, Oklahoma. Apple is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in her forever, loving home. We are thrilled that this sweet girl will receive the time and attention she deserves with her forever, loving family.
