Gemma came into our rescue program on November 28, 2016. Gemma came from the Logan County Sheriff's Office as a cruelty case along with 4 other horses. Sadly, when we arrived on the scene one horse was down, emaciated and had been struggling for quite some time. Nicholas/Nigel only weighed 528 pounds, which was half of his body weight. He was extremely neglected and went without far to long. We was able to move that horse off the property, but sadly lost him early the next morning. We are thankful that the others were removed before they suffered any long term affects and lost as much weight as the beautiful boy, Nicholas/Nigel that we lost. Gemma is a Beautiful, Black, Quarter Horse, Mare. Gemma is estimated to be 7 years of age. Gemma is a super sweet girl and loves attention. Gemma loads in a trailer and stands for the farrier. We hope to bring you additional information about this sweet girl soon, as we prepare Gemma for adoption. Please consider making a donation towards Gemma's care.

Gemma was picked for our 6th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. She was chosen by Youth Trainer Jules Curry. Jules will be working with Gemma for the next 132 days, turning Gemma into a dependable riding companion. Jules will be going against 4 Youth Trainers in our Trainer's Challenge. We also have 11 Adult Trainers competing in our Trainer's Challenge. Competition is set for May 20, 2017 at the Heart of Oklahoma, Shawnee Expo Center, Shawnee, Oklahoma. For additional information regarding our Trainer's Challenge, please visit our trainer's challenge website and follow your favorite Trainer/Rescue Horse on their journey to competition. Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. Gemma will be available for adoption throughout the competition on May 20, 2017 through an all day silent auction. Gemma is a sweet girl and loves attention. Gemma has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof maintenance. Gemma has also been freeze branded for her protection. If you are interested in adopting Gemma, please submit an adoption application and get your pre-approved status, in order to adopt Gemma or one of our other Rescued Horses competing on May 20, 2017.
