Hooey came into our rescue program on January 14, 2015. Hooey came from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office along with 11 other horses as an abandonment case. Sadly, help came too late for 2 other horses. We lost a 6 month old foal 3 days after she arrived and we found 1 dead on the property. Hooey is a Beautiful, Blue Roan, Quarter Horse, Gelding. Hooey is estimated to be 4 years of age. Hooey is body score of a 3. He is infested with internal/external parasites, has rain rot and is mildly anemic. Hooey is covered in ticks. Hooey is a sweet boy, but very scared. Hooey, along with the 11 other horses, haven't experienced much hands on attention. Most are not halter broke or broke to lead, but learning. It is going to take some time and patience and this beautiful herd will learn to accept love and attention. It clear that no human has been there for them in the past, and they don't understand that we are here to help. We will update as Hooey improves. Please consider making a donation towards Hooey's Rehabilitation.

Update 2016 Hooey is now seeking his forever, loving home. Hooey is a super sweet boy but very timid and tends to be aloof. Once you catch him, he calms down a bit but still gets worried about what may be happening. Hooey is a beautiful boy and in the right hands will blossom and flourish into a wonderful companion. Hooey is young and ready for training! Hooey is halter broke and broke to lead. He needs a calm, patient trainer that is willing to put in the time and attention he needs. Hooey has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this beautiful boy the forever, loving home he deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Hooey.

Hooey was picked for our 6th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. He was chosen by Adult Trainer Abby Ocker. Update May 2017 Hooey is doing great in his training and ready for that forever, loving home. Hooey has been to 2 Working Equitation Clinics, 2 Lessons with Zeke Zacharias, been on 3 different obstacle courses and 10 trail rides ranging from 3 to 120 horses and 1 to 6 hours long. Hooey stands tied and trailer loads like an old pro. He stands for the farrier, takes worming and shots well. He stands to be saddled on the left and right, he stands for mounting on the left or right from the ground or from an object. He stands to have wraps and boots put on and taken off. he knows leg and seat cues. He has collection at a walk, trot and canter. He has a collected and extended walk, trot and canter. He has left and right lead departures, left and right side pass, half pass, and leg yield. He stops off your seat and "whoa", has a nice back up. He is road savvy, opens and shuts gates, drags and carries a pole, does obstacles, puts all 4 feet on a pedestal, carries saddle bags, crosses water, walks up and down hills, and doesn't mind dogs. He will lead or follow on a trail. He disengages both shoulders and both hips on the ground and under saddle. This is one boy you don't want to miss out on and will make a great addition to your family.
