Lasso

Lasso came into our rescue program on January 14, 2015. Lasso came from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office along with 11 other horses as an abandonment case. Sadly, help came too late for 2 other horses. We lost a 6 month old foal 3 days after she arrived and we found 1 dead on the property. Lasso is a Beautiful, Bay Roan, Quarter Horse, Mare. Lasso is estimated to be 6 years of age. Lasso is body score of a 3. She is infested with internal/external parasites, has rain rot and is mildly anemic. Lasso is covered in ticks and possibly pregnant. Lasso is a sweet girl, but very scared. Lasso, along with the 11 other horses, haven't experienced much hands on attention. Most are not halter broke or broke to lead, but learning. It is going to take some time and patience and this beautiful herd will learn to accept love and attention. It clear that no human has been there for them in the past, and they don't understand that we are here to help. We will update as Lasso improves. Please consider making a donation towards Lasso's Rehabilitation.

Lasso was picked for our 5th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. She was chosen by Youth Trainer Jules Curry. Adopting a rescued horse, saves 2 lives, the one you adopted and the one that can now enter rescue due to the space you helped free up.

Update May 30, 2016 Lasso is seeking her forever, loving home. We are completely surprised this beautiful girl did not get adopted during our Trainer's Challenge. Since Lasso has returned to our rescue facility and settled in after the challenge. Lasso has been ridden by several of our volunteers and family members. Lasso certainly became the favorite among everyone and she has been ridden several times since competition. This is a great horse! Jules Curry did an amazing job training Lasso. Lasso will make someone an excellent horse and is ready to go any direction you want to take her. While Jules had Lasso in Training, she started her on barrels and poles. You can rope the dummy off of her, track steers, or drag things. Lasso is very cowy and she doesn't mind any kind of livestock. Lasso will go through water with no problem and she is great on the trails. Lasso can pivot both left and right, stop on a dime, gives to the pole, moves her hindquarters over, does simple and flying lead changes. Lasso has basically been trained similar to a reining horse. Lasso has been hauled to barrel races and arenas and doesn't easily spook. This beautiful girl is ready to go any direction you want to take her. We really can't say enough about Lasso or her training. You can watch Jules performance during our 5th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer's Challenge here: Team Lasso. You can also view this video that is a bit more focused in, we do apologize for the few hiccups while videoing. Team Lasso HD Jules Curry and Team Lasso came in 4th Place in our Youth Division, 5th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer's Challenge. These two did a wonderful job! Lasso has received 5 months of training. She has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating, and hoof maintenance. Lasso loads in a trailer and stands for the farrier. Don't miss out on this amazing girl! If you are interested in adopting Lasso, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Lasso.

Lasso has been adopted to a wonderful family in Choctaw, Oklahoma. Lasso is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in her forever, loving home. We are thrilled that this sweet girl found the forever, loving family she deserves where she will receive lots of hands on attention.
