Lumin came into our rescue program on July 13, 2025. Lumin came into our rescue program from Norman Animal Welfare as a cruelty case along with 5 other horses, 7 Goats, 2 Sheep and 1 Duck. Lumin is a Beautiful, Palomino, Quarter Horse, Mare. Lumin is estimated to be 34 years old, upon arrival into our program. Lumin is emaciated with a body score of a 1, infested with internal/external parasites. I want to stress that AGE IS NOT A DISEASE! I hear all the time people claiming their horse is emaciated because its old. If you are properly feeding your old horse, they should not look like this! Older horses need far more grain than your average horse. They should be compensated accordingly. We have been caring for Lumin a little over a month now, and the difference in her weight is astounding. She wasn't being fed appropriately, or if at all. If you need feed recommendations for your old horse, please look into feeding Total Equine. It is not sold in most Oklahoma feed stores, so please reach out to me for an Oklahoma representative. Lumin is a sweet girl and loves attention. She sees you coming a mile away at feeding time and she lets you know just how excited she is to see you. She is halter broke and broke to lead. We will update as she gains a bit of weight with her adoption status. Please consider donating towards Lumin's rehabilitation.
