Parker came into our rescue program on March 8, 2011. Parker came from the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division along with 5 other horses in an animal cruelty case. Parker is a Beautiful, Black, Quarter Horse, Stud Colt. He is estimated to be 1 year old. Parker came to us with a fractured jaw. We don't know what happened, but believe that it is a result from being kicked by another horse. He is showing great improvements from the first set of x-rays to the last set recently taken. I believe that the antibiotics are helping him heal. We will update as he continues to improve. He will be gelded prior to being adopted. We will update as he progresses. Please consider making a donation towards Parker's rehabilitation.
Update 5/17/2011 Parker's fractured Jaw was starting to show improvements while on antibiotics, according to his first sets of X-rays, but he has suddenly started draining again and the infection has appeared again. On top of his jaw complications, his blood results show extreme elevation in potassium, glucose, calcium, total protein, globulin and creatine kinase. These evaluated levels are consistent with a Hyperkalemic attack caused by HYPP. We are now testing to confirm HYPP. We can't move forward with surgery for his jaw, until we confirm HYPP, as sedation could kill him. We need to get him started on the treatment, so that we can move forward with the surgery to correct his jaw. This sweet boy deserves a second chance. He loves attention and is one of the sweetest horses and he has a strong will to survive. Please consider making a donation towards Parker's rehabilitation and surgery.
Update August 2012 Parker is now seeking his forever, loving home. Parker is super sweet and loves attention. His test results came back negative for HYPP. He is doing great and appears to be very healthy. He is such a good boy and will make someone an excellent horse. Parker currently stands at 13.2 hands tall. He is sun bleached right now, but such a beautiful boy and sweet boy. Parker stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. He has such a willing/giving personality. Parker has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, gelding and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this sweet boy the forever, loving home that he deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Parker.
Parker has been adopted to a wonderful family in Allen, Oklahoma. Parker is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in his forever, loving home. We are thrilled that this sweet boy is going to receive the time and attention he deserves with his forever, loving family
