Redneck came into our rescue program on August 13, 2016. Redneck came from the Luther Police Department along with 5 other horses. Redneck is a Beautiful, Sorrel, Quarter Horse, Gelding. Redneck is estimated to be 11 years of age. Redneck is emaciated, body score of a 1, infested with internal/external parasites. Redneck has a low HCT (anemia) can be secondary to infection, parasitism, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Redneck has a low WBC and Lympocytes can be due to endogenous glucocorticoid release, exogenous, corticosteroid administration, acute viral infections, severe bacterial infections, septicemia, edotoxemia, and immune deficiency conditions. In this horse the low lymphocyte count is most likely due to endogenous glucocorticoid release from stress. Elevated HGB, HCT, and MCHC can be due to stress, causing splenic contraction and rapid release of RBC's or from dehydration. Redneck is a super sweet boy. He stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. Redneck stands at 14.2 hands tall. We will continue to update as Redneck improves. Please consider making a donation towards Redneck's Rehabilitation.
