SantinaSantina

Santina came into our rescue program on September 5, 2010. Santina came from the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division. Santina is a beautiful, Sorrel, Quarter Horse, Mare. She is estimated to be 11 years of age. OKC-AWD called us immediately after placing this horse on the trailer and asked us to meet them at the Shelter, as she needed immediate medical attention. They put a temporary leg wrap on the wound until we could get her back to our rescue. Once we arrived back to the rescue, we were able to access the wound and see what she needed. She has a major wire cut under her forearm. She had severed a blood vessel and it was bleeding profusely. We immediately applied a pressure bandage. This sweet girl was very patient with us while we cleaned up her legs. She stood in the standing stocks for 2 hours, very patiently. Once we were confident that the blood vessel had clotted, we placed a full limb bandage on her and she settled into her stall for the evening. We are not sure what happened to this sweet girl, other than, she got caught up in some type of fencing. She has other mild cuts and abrasions on her legs. We will update as she progresses. Please consider making a donation toward's Santina's rehabilitation.

Update 10/1/10 Santina is now seeking her forever, loving home. Santina's wounds have healed and she looks great. She is a super sweet girl. She loves attention and she gets along great with other horses. She is very pigeon toed, but is not lame and gets around great. I'm sure that she has been that way all of her life. It could have been prevented when she was a baby, if she had received proper corrective trimming. Santina is broke to ride, she is very calm and would make a great kids horse. Of course, we would recommend a few tune up rides in a round pen or small enclosed area before hitting a trail. Santina loads in a trailer, stands for the farrier and stands while being tacked. Santina is about 15 hands tall. She will make someone an excellent horse. Santina has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Santina.

Santina has been adopted to a wonderful family in Jones, Oklahoma. Santina has been adopted along with Princess Leah and both are going to be extremely spoiled rotten and well loved. Santina and Princess Leah have found their forever, loving family and we are so thrilled that these two are going to such a great home.
