Sapporo came into our rescue program on May 24, 2017. Sapporo came into our rescue program from an Oklahoma Kill Pen after being saved by the Save our Standardbreds from Slaughter (SOSS) group. The Rescue Network reached out to us and asked if we could assist with taking in 2 Standardbreds that they fundraised to save. Sapporo is a Beautiful, Bay, Standardbred, Mare. Sapporo is estimated to be 16 years of age. Sapporo is a super sweet girl. She can be a bit aloof. She wants to trust you and be a part of things, but she is leery. I certainly can't blame her. Sapporo is supposed to be broke to drive, but we have no way to confirm that. She is broke to ride, however, we would recommend some tune up time in a round pen or small enclosed area, as we don't know when she was ridden last. Sapporo will make someone a wonderful addition to anyone's family. She needs a family she can trust and know that she won't be used to work hard with no reward. It is presumed that Sapporo is a former amish horse, it does appear that she has some ringbone on her hind feet, which would probably be from pulling to hard. She is sound and does not show any signs of lameness. Sapporo stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. Sapporo has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, dental, and hoof maintenance.
