Wine N Tine

Wine N Tine came into our rescue program on December 9, 2009. Wine N Tine came from the OSU Polo Team. Wine N Tine is a Beautiful, Bay, Thoroughbred, Mare. She is estimated to be 15 years of age. She is super sweet, very gentle and was the Polo team's beginner safe horse. Wine N Tine is currently being treated for a Bladder Infection. Wine N Tine has a history of bladder problems. She is doing great with her current treatment and is showing signs of improvement. Wine N Tine will make someone a wonderful horse, specially for a beginner rider. Wine N Time will need to be watched for future bladder infections and may require antibiotics on occasion to stay ahead of it. Don't let this keep you from adopting a wonderful horse. She still has a lot of great potential. She would be an excellent confident building horse or an excellent kids horse. She has one of the best personalities, very laid back, and loves attention. This sweet girl deserves a forever, loving home. If you are interested in giving this sweeheart the second chance she deserves, please submit an application. Wine N Tine has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance.

Update 3-27-2010 We originally thought that we were getting ahead of Wine N Tine's bladder infection, but as we continued to lavage her, she continued to show complications urinating, etc., It became evident that her bladder had suffered so long from the infection prior to her coming into rescue, that she wasn't able to relax her bladder and urinate as she needed too. Instead, her bladder would get so full, that it would overflow and appear that she was urinating on her own. We have since put her on Bethanechol, in order to relax her bladder and give her control to urinate. She has been on this medication now for 4 weeks and is doing great. She has shown improvements each week when being lavaged. However, I am being told that if this medication works, she will have to remain on this medication for the remainder of her life. This has to be given to her every 8 hours, totally 3 times a day. Our veterinarian will perform another follow up on her in 2 weeks and we will know more at that time, what her long term prognosis will be. So far, I think that we finally have things under control and we are seeing huge improvements. Wine N Tine will always require maintenance from a Veterinarian to lavage her, as we can't let any sludge build up in her bladder. Wine N Tine is gaining weight and doing very well. We will continue to update as she progresses. Please consider making a donation towards this sweet girls medication and rehabilitation.

Wine N Tine has been adopted to a wonderful family in Belle Plaine, Kansas. We are so happy that Wine N Tine has found her forever, loving family. She is getting the much needed love and attention that she deserves. Their is a special little boy that is going to be spoiling her rotten. Wine N Tine's forever, family is an answered prayer for this sweet, sweet girl. Wine N Tine is joing Carhartt in their forever, loving home.
